Pedasi and the Azuero Peninsula

Azuero Peninsula is one of the last parts of Panama being discovered by tourists and investors big time. A small roster of celebrities including Hollywood movie stars and America's rich and famous who are buying large tracts of land as nature preserves, for exclusive getaways and investment. It already has one upscale residential resort community, Azueros and such projects are being planned.

Azuero Peninsula is most famous for its rich historical culture, including lively festivals and traditional religious celebrations dating back to Spanish colonial times. Many of the small towns were founded in colonial times and have their own 17th-18th century churches.

Azuero is also home to Panama's best Carnaval celebration. A colorful, wild yet friendly event in Las Tablas. Nearly all the exquisite hand embroidered “pollera” dresses Panamananian women done for festivals and parties are made by local artisans in Azuero as well as most Panama Hats.

Azuero is also the site of Panama's richest archeological excavations with remains dating back 11,000 years, the earliest found in Central America.

Modern life has very much arrived in the two principal cities, Chitre and Los Santos both connected to the Panamerican highway, by the excellent National Highway (Carretera Nacional). Here the modern and the traditional worlds comfortably mix. You'll see cowboys on horseback and businessman in SUVs talking intensely on cell phones

The Azuero peninsula features towns that were founded hundreds of years ago.  Strong spanish colonial influence can be seen in the beautiful churches and towns plazas, as well as in the well kept homes with their pastoral colors, colonnaded verandas and tile roofs.  Las tablas is located thirty minutes from Pedasi and the provincial capital was founded in 1671 and boasts the most famous carnival in all of Panama.

Pedasi is a quiet, traditional town tucked away in a beautiful part of the Azuero Peninsula, the cultural heartland of Panama.  It is a place of green, rolling hills and shining blue waters resembling the tuscany region of Italy.

With its pastoral ambience, charming local cultures and a diversity of activities to suit the adventuros and leisurely alike, Pedasi Panama  is quickly making its way to the for front of the worlds top vacation and retirment destinations.

Nearby, the colorful town of Pedasi offers cafes and restaurants, supermarkets and souvenir shops. The bigger towns of Las Tablas and Chitré, with more extensive amenities, are just an hour’s drive on impeccably smooth roads, and Panama City with its first-world modernity is just 4 hours on the Pan-American highway.

A regional airport also receives several domestic flights a week to Pedasí, and is currently under expansion to receive larger charter flights.
